It's February already?

I started a Happy 2011 blog post that I never finished... but it began like this:

I'm excited. There is so much happening over the next 12 months that it's almost too much for me to process. We head to Hawaii in two days for my great friend's wedding. Meanwhile we are awaiting big news from Tom's sister and brother-in-law, who are expecting their first baby by the end of this month. Then in the chunk of time between Feburary and December, we have a wedding to plan, a task that is equal parts thrilling and overwhelming.

Since I wrote the above, we made it to Hawaii and back for Cho's beautiful, fun wedding. It was so great to catch up with college friends who I haven't seen in forever, and it was kind of crazy how much we've all grown up. Can you say baby boom? There were a few under-12 month old guests at this wedding, along with two pregnant bellies in the bunch. It was a little bit of a reality check that I'm 30 and not 21 anymore.

Speaking of baby booms, Tom's sister and brother-in-law welcomed a healthy, perfect-looking baby boy into the world last month, and although I haven't been able to meet the little guy yet, he is absolutely adorable in photos and his parents look amazing, especially for having a newborn in the house. Tom is traveling back East this weekend to visit with them, and I am so bummed that I can't join him. Unfortunately, I'm strapped for time off at work and I need to save as much of it up for later this year. Fortunately, we will be back in Boston a few times this summer for weddings and also to plan for our own big day.

Wedding planning is coming along - we have the date set (December 3), the venue booked (Chatham Bars Inn) and I'm trying to move forward with getting additional elements confirmed. We have a photog that I'm super excited about, which is a load off my shoulders because photographers are so expensive that I was nervous to pull the trigger and choose one. But I think the gal we are using will do a great job and I love, love, love her artsy/photojournalism style. My mom and sister are coming out the first weekend in March to look at dresses with me, which I am also really nervous but excited about. I am so not a "Let's go try on clothes!" person and overbearing sales people give me anxiety, but hopefully this experience will be different than getting stuck in a Banana dressing room. I'm also a Say Yes to the Dress junkie, and I am terrified that every dress I try on will have to be pinned to me using those awful clamps because the dress won't zip up. Those clamps are motivation for me to get my butt to the gym and not eat five bowls of cereal every night.

In other news, it's snowing today in Denver and my work computer is moving impossibly slow. Where's my snow day?
